Merion East
Hugh Wilson design of 1912 with wicker basket pins
Overview
Merion East fits a championship course into 111 tight acres outside Philadelphia. Ben Hogan struck the famous 1 iron to the 72nd hole in the 1950 US Open. Justin Rose won the 2013 US Open there. Its wicker flagsticks, no flags, are unmistakable.
